Ball State student-athletes spend up to 20 hours each week practicing and playing their sport. But there’s much more that goes into their lives. They also take classes, balance personal life and deal with the notoriety of their status.

Putting it all together, life can be pretty hectic. The athletes have committed themselves to their status, even handling the additional scrutiny that comes with it.

“I think we definitely have to watch what we do and what we say and how we act when we’re off the court, because people do know that we’re student-athletes,” freshman women’s volleyball player Whitney Heeres said. “People are watching us more.”
